Lyrics

I thirst
The sun beats fierce in this wilderness I’m in
Where shifting sands blind my eyes
Surrounding me
Until I’m parched and dry

But I’m not alone in this barren place
I hear a voice from the distant hills
I hear her weep; she cannot be consoled
Her children are lost; whispers in the wind
When did our hearts grow so hard; so cold
How can mother’s turn away; let their children pay the price
While fires rage consuming everything we know
And life tastes like dust with choices we have made

So I thirst
This land is dry; nothing satisfies my heart
I feel afraid for what we’ve become
I long for life that’s full and free
But men kill men they don’t even know
And innocence cries with unseen tears
Armies men on thrones cast deep shadows
Where I must pay to live

When will water break free in the desert
Where will springs of life flow; deep springs to heal our land
Where laughter rings out in a song of joy
Where Peace and justice come together
No one ever thirsts again
